Important safety information
Compounded GLP-1/GIP is a patient-specific medication created in a state Board of Pharmacy or FDA licensed compounding facility per a prescription from a licensed healthcare professional. Compounded drugs are required to exclusively use ingredients from FDA-licensed facilities, and test sterile compounds for potency, sterility, and purity.
While compounded drugs are legal they do not undergo pre-market approval from the FDA as they are not made in large batches for the public, compounds are made based on specific orders from a medical professional. Because of that, the dose, route of administration, and efficacy may differ from commercially available, brand-name, drugs.
OrderlyMeds exclusively works with licensed compounding pharmacies in the United States.

Compounded GLP-1/GIP dosage chart for weight management
Go slow or go fast — it all depends on you
If you are new to a GLP-1, your doctor will get your started on our 2.5mg starter dose. Starting with a low dose is important. It helps your body get used to the medication before the dosage gets increased. This will be adjusted based on factors you discuss with your healthcare team.
During your first check-in, we’ll talk about any side effects you’ve noticed, how much weight you’ve lost, and if you want to change your dose. If you are seeing results on your current dose, we recommend staying on this dose until you notice progress plateauing. Keep in mind, it could take up to and through two months to see progress.

Frequently asked questions about GLP-1/GIP
Get the answers to commonly asked questions about this medication.
What is a GLP-1/GIP medication? How does it work?
GLP-1/GIP medication mimics two hormones that help regulate blood sugar levels: GLP-1 and GIP. It stimulates insulin release, slows down stomach emptying, and reduces appetite, which can help you feel fuller for longer and support better blood sugar control.1
What is compounded GLP-1/GIP used for?
GLP-1/GIP injections are used along with an individualized low-calorie, low-fat diet and exercise program to help with weight loss in obese adults or overweight adults who may also have high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, cardiovascular disease or high cholesterol. GLP-1/GIP is in a class of medications called glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. It works by increasing insulin available and decreasing glucagon (a hormone that controls the amount of glucose made by the liver) available in the body. GLP-1/GIP injection also works by slowing the movement of food through the stomach and may decrease appetite and cause weight loss.2
How should GLP-1/GIP injections be used?
GLP-1/GIP medication is given as a subcutaneous injection. Recommended sites include the abdomen (at least 2 inches from the belly button), the front or outer thigh, and the outer back of the upper arm (with assistance).
Key Points to Remember:
– Rotate injection sites with each dose and avoid areas with scar tissue, moles, or bruises. Do not inject through clothing.
– Ensure the liquid in the syringe is clear and colorless. Discard it if cloudy or discolored.
– Use a new needle for each injection.
– Never share syringes, as this can spread infections.
– Administer the medication on the same day each week, at any time, with or without meals.
– Follow the specific instructions provided, and consult your doctor or healthcare professional if you have questions about the technique. Detailed instructions are also included with your medication.3
How much weight can I lose on a GLP-1/GIP injection?
Weight loss results with GLP-1s can vary widely from person to person. In a 72-week clinical trial studying Zepbound (15 mg) in patients without diabetes and with BMI ≥30, or BMI ≥27 with a weight-related condition, the average weight loss was 20%, when paired with diet and exercise changes (compared to 3.1% with diet and exercise alone).4
How long does it take GLP-1/GIP to work?
Weight loss can vary among patients; some see results right away, while others may take a month or more. Consistency is key. Continue taking the medication as directed, and our medical team will adjust your dose as needed to optimize your weight loss. On average, a safe rate is typically 1-2 pounds per week (or 6-8 pounds per month), but individual targets may vary.
In what states do you prescribe compounded GLP-1/GIP injections?
Our injectable compounded GLP-1/GIP is available in all 50 states.
Who is eligible for compounded GLP-1/GIP injections through OrderlyMeds?
Our licensed providers will determine your eligibility for a compounded GLP-1/GIP injection prescription. Our general requirements include:
– You must be 18 years old or older
– Have a BMI greater than 27
– Are not pregnant
– Do not have certain medical conditions (i.e. thyroid cancer or hyperthyroidism, gastroparesis, pancreatic cancer or pancreatitis, MEN2 syndrome, or inflammatory bowel disease).
– Require a compounded preparation that produces a significant difference for your needs compared to the FDA-approved product
This is not a complete list of qualifying requirements. As a part of our process, you will need to complete an online health screening with our telehealth providers to ultimately determine whether you are eligible to be prescribed compounded GLP-1/GIP injections.
How do I know what dose I should take?
When starting GLP-1/GIP, you’ll begin with a 2.5mg starter dose for the first 4 weeks. This helps your body adjust, so full effects may not be noticeable until your second month. Don’t worry; this is part of the process.
If you’ve previously taken a GLP-1 medication, you can start at your last prescribed dose by providing valid proof of your prescription during the health screening. Please note, if we do not receive the proper documentation, our providers will have to prescribe you at the starting dose.
Do I have to follow a GLP-1/GIP diet plan?
There are no specific foods to avoid while taking a GLP-1/GIP medication, but follow your doctor’s or dietitian’s exercise and dietary recommendations. A healthy diet and regular exercise will help manage your weight and enhance the effectiveness of a GLP-1/GIP medication. To minimize side effects and support weight loss, consider these guidelines:
– Avoid fatty, fried, high-sugar, and unhealthy fast foods
– Limit alcohol consumption
– Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
What are the side effects of GLP-1/GIP?
Common side effects of compounded GLP-1/GIP include nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, bloating, and belching. Not everyone will experience them, and many find that side effects diminish as their body adjusts to the medication. If you have concerns, please contact our healthcare team or your primary care physician.2 For a complete list of potential side effects, visit: https://orderlymeds.com/safety-information
What should I do if I miss a dose?
Inject the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if more than 4 days have passed since your missed dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not inject a double dose to make up for a missed one.2
How do you store and dispose of GLP-1/GIP?
Keep vials, syringes, needles, and medicines out of reach of children. Store away from light and heat. Refrigerate unused GLP-1/GIP medication (36°F to 46°F [2°C to 8°C]), but not near the cooling element. Do not freeze; discard if frozen.
Dispose of unneeded medications safely to prevent accidental ingestion. Do not flush them down the toilet; use a medicine take-back program instead. Contact your pharmacist or local waste department for options, or visit the FDA’s Safe Disposal of Medicines website for more information.
