If you are new to a GLP-1, your doctor will get your started on our 2.5mg starter dose. Starting with a low dose is important. It helps your body get used to the medication before the dosage gets increased. This will be adjusted based on factors you discuss with your healthcare team.
During your first check-in, we'll talk about any side effects you've noticed, how much weight you've lost, and if you want to change your dose. If you are seeing results on your current dose, we recommend staying on this dose until you notice progress plateauing. Keep in mind, it could take up to and through two months to see progress.
Tirzepatide mimics two hormones that help regulate blood sugar levels: GLP-1 and GIP. It stimulates insulin release, slows down stomach emptying, and reduces appetite, which can help you feel fuller for longer and support better blood sugar control.1
Tirzepatide injections are used along with an individualized low-calorie, low-fat diet and exercise program to help with weight loss in obese adults or overweight adults who may also have high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, cardiovascular disease or high cholesterol. Tirzepatide is in a class of medications called glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. It works by increasing insulin available and decreasing glucagon (a hormone that controls the amount of glucose made by the liver) available in the body. Tirzepatide injection also works by slowing the movement of food through the stomach and may decrease appetite and cause weight loss.2
Zepbound® tirzepatide is given as a subcutaneous injection. Recommended sites include the abdomen (at least 2 inches from the belly button), the front or outer thigh, and the outer back of the upper arm (with assistance).
Key Points to Remember:
- Rotate injection sites with each dose and avoid areas with scar tissue, moles, or bruises. Do not inject through clothing.
- Ensure the liquid in the medicine pen is clear and colorless. Discard it if cloudy or discolored.
- Use a new needle for each injection.
- Never share medicine pens, as this can spread infections.
- Administer the medication on the same day each week, at any time, with or without meals.
- Follow the specific instructions provided, and consult your doctor or healthcare professional if you have questions about the technique. Detailed instructions are also included with your medication.3
Compounders may prepare Zepbound® versions of a drug on FDA’s drug shortages list if the Zepbound® drug meets certain conditions detailed in federal law. Currently, it is legal to compound tirzepatide as it is currently listed on the FDA's drug shortage list.4
Our injectable Zepbound® tirzepatide is $399 per month for four doses, regardless of dose strength. This price covers 100% of the costs, including your online telehealth visit, unlimited check-ins, and shipping. There are no additional fees—membership prices and subscription commitments are not required to purchase injectable Zepbound® tirzepatide from OrderlyMeds.
Results can vary significantly among individuals. Clinical studies show that tirzepatide typically leads to around 15% weight loss per year. Factors such as starting weight, diet, exercise, medication adherence, and individual metabolism influence outcomes. Weight loss generally occurs gradually, and significant results are not guaranteed for everyone. Combining GLP-1s with healthy eating and regular exercise can enhance results. During your monthly check-in, you will inform our medical team about your progress on your current dose and whether you would like to remain on that dose or increase to the next one to help ensure you are meeting your goals.
Weight loss can vary among patients; some see results right away, while others may take a month or more. Consistency is key. Continue taking the medication as directed, and our medical team will adjust your dose as needed to optimize your weight loss. On average, a safe rate is typically 1-2 pounds per week (or 6-8 pounds per month), but individual targets may vary.
Big Pharma brands Mounjaro® and Zepbound® use the active ingredient, Tirzepatide. We compound tirzepatide medication to your specific dosing needs and ship it in a glass vial with alcohol prep pads and syringes, resulting in significantly less waste (and cost) compared to the Big Pharma brands, which range from $1,100 to $1,600 when not covered by insurance. Zepbound® medication is a great option for those seeking an affordable alternative when their insurance does not cover weight loss medications.
Our injectable Zepbound® tirzepatide is available in all 50 states.
Our licensed providers will determine your eligibility for a Zepbound® tirzepatide injection prescription. Our general requirements include:
- You must be 18 years old or older
- Have a BMI greater than 27
- Are not pregnant
- Do not have certain medical conditions (i.e. thyroid cancer or hyperthyroidism, gastroparesis, pancreatic cancer or pancreatitis, MEN2 syndrome, or inflammatory bowel disease).
This is not a complete list of qualifying requirements. As a part of our process, you will need to complete an online health screening with our telehealth providers to ultimately determine whether you are eligible to be prescribed Zepbound® tirzepatide injections.
When starting tirzepatide, you'll begin with a 2-2.5mg starter dose for the first 4 weeks. This helps your body adjust, so full effects may not be noticeable until your second month. Don’t worry; this is part of the process.
If you’ve previously taken a GLP-1 medication, you can start at your last prescribed dose by providing valid proof of your prescription during the health screening. Please note, if we do not receive the proper documentation, our providers will have to prescribe you at the starting dose.
There are no specific foods to avoid while taking tirzepatide, but follow your doctor’s or dietitian’s exercise and dietary recommendations. A healthy diet and regular exercise will help manage your weight and enhance the effectiveness of tirzepatide. To minimize side effects and support weight loss, consider these guidelines:
- Avoid fatty, fried, high-sugar, and unhealthy fast foods
- Limit alcohol consumption
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
Common side effects of compound tirzepatide include nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, bloating, and belching. Not everyone will experience them, and many find that side effects diminish as their body adjusts to the medication. If you have concerns, please contact our healthcare team or your primary care physician.2 For a complete list of potential side effects, visit: [https://orderlymeds.com/safety-information/Zepbound®-tirzepatide].
Inject the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if more than 4 days have passed since your missed dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not inject a double dose to make up for a missed one.2
Keep medicine pens out of reach of children. Store away from light and heat. Refrigerate unused tirzepatide (36°F to 46°F [2°C to 8°C]), but not near the cooling element. Do not freeze; discard if frozen.
Dispose of unneeded medications safely to prevent accidental ingestion. Do not flush them down the toilet; use a medicine take-back program instead. Contact your pharmacist or local waste department for options, or visit the FDA's Safe Disposal of Medicines website for more information: https://goo.gl/c4Rm4p.2
